Amazing Kids....Awesome God!!

So, today I met some of the bravest little kids that have endured more than their own share! They all have a disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta also known a glass bones or brittle bone disease. In many circumstances, this means their fragile bodies cannot even withstand their own body weight without breaking a bone. Most have had 2-5 surgeries and have had rods placed in their arms and legs, they have endured years of daily therapy, and most were just pushed aside until they came to this current home. I say all this to tell you that they are the sweetest, smartest, fastest, silliest kids that I have ever met! Normal kids in so many ways yet treated so abnormal!! A life that started with being abandoned due to their imperfection and has since led to years of being stared at and even left in cribs until teenagers, uneducated and never allowed to socialize. These are smart, witty and personable kids!! Thank you that God has a different plan and it is never too late!!! The Home that we visited today is blessed with loving houseparents, a mom and dad that truly care and are engaged in the daily lives of these kids. They take in kids from local orphanages with this specific disease and brings them from surviving to thriving. Here are a couple of stories, names are not used to protect the children: One particular girl, now 16, lived in a crib until she was 14. She has been at this new home for a couple of years and is now in 2nd grade. She loves to read and hopes to be a hairdresser. She asked us why her mother threw her away? I was able to share a little of my personal story with her and assured her that her mother loved her but was more than likely unable to care for her. :( Broke my heart. A 14 year old boy who was abandoned, sent to a government orphanage where he not given much love or attention is actually a naturally gifted piano player....he played for us and we stood bye teary eyed and in awe. A talent that would have gone undiscovered had he stayed where he was. Another little girl had her cast removed today. I was able to stand by and along with the nanny, provide some comfort as the noisy saw and anxiety scared her. Beneath the cast appeared a straight leg bone and the biggest smile you have ever seen. When I carried her back into the house, all the little kids cheered because her cast was off!! It was a precious moment. She is one of the fortunate few with this disease that actually has a family coming from the US to adopt her. Well, we had a pizza party, gave out goody bags filled with requested treats from the USA and gave lots of hugs!! I stand in awe of their will to progress and not settle. It is now 9:30 pm and I can barley keep my eyes open. I will have to post pictures in the morning. You will just fall in love with their sweet faces. There are so many stories to tell for they each have an amazing little testimony of their own!  Below you will see a a straight leg revealed for the first time, the kids going for a walk or a roll as they call it, friends sharing lunch, yummy noodles, an anxious therapy participant ready to get into the therapy pool and a cast ready to come off!  It is a pure joy to come alongside this home and these kids.
